Adams Peak Silver Tip

Near Adams Peak, the cloud kissed and mist blown slopes are blessed with some of the finest teas on earth. The white teas are especially rare as only 30Kg are made on a weekly basis. The reason for the limited production is that only the best, fresh shoots are selected and then withered and sun dried. The tips are silvery and have fresh fuzz similar to that on a peach. The heady aroma is unlike that of any other tea and is somewhat piney. The subtle taste may only be fully appreciated with an experienced palate, and tea lovers are encouraged to try this rare gem.

Adams Peak is one of the most sacred mountains the world. Buddhists believe the footprint on the summit is that of Buddha; Hindus hold it to be the mark of Shiva; Muslims are convinced that it is that of Adam who wept after the loss of Eden (from which the mountain is named) and some Christians believe the indentations were caused when St Thomas, Christ's apostle who came East, prayed at the peak.

The Benefits of Drinking White Tea

In testing by an institute in Massachusetts, this particular tea has been found to be very high in polyphenols - the anti-oxidants found in tea.

White teas are very rare and good quality specimens such as this are seldom found outside of China. The little buds that form on the plant are covered with very fine silver hairs that give the young leaves a white appearance. They are carefully picked by hand, sun dried and then packed into airtight containers.

The amazing qualities of this tea cant be disputed. White teas give hardly any colour when brewed, while the flavour is light, sweet and loaded with nuance. White teas are amazingly healthy and typically have less caffeine and higher anti-oxidant levels than black, green or oolong teas. A wonderful tea to add to your collection today.

Hot Tea Brewing Method

When preparing by the cup, this tea can be used repeatedly - about 3 to 4 times. The secret is to use water that is about 80°C (180°F). Place 1 teaspoon (around 3g)  in your cup. For a more intense flavour, add a bit more tea. Let the tea steep for about 3 to 5 minutes, to your taste, and then begin enjoying a cup of enchantment - do not remove the leaves from the cup. Once the water level is low - add more water, and so on and so on - until the flavour of the tea is exhausted.
The 2nd and 3rd cups brewed from 1 set of leaves are thought to be superior to the 1st and 4th.

Alternatively, try brewing in a tea infuser.
Milk and sugar not recommended.

Iced Tea Brewing Method

Make as for hot, but add extra tea - a rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to double the amount of tea used per cup. When the tea has cooled a little, pour over ice. It is important to make it a little stronger as the ice will water it down.

Alternatively, you can cold brew the tea by placing the tea leaves in a jug and adding cold water. Leave to infuse for a few hours (or overnight in the fridge) strain and enjoy. Cold brewing will give a smoother taste.
