Liquorice is well known and used in both Indian and Chinese traditional medicine. Modern scientific studies have backed up many of these claims. People use peppermint and liquorice tea to treat the symptoms of heartburn, bloating, PMS, depression, coughs and chest issues as well as constipation, inflammation and low blood pressure. It is also known for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti fungal properties. Here you have a cuppa that smells great, tastes amazing and does you good.
Hot Tea Brewing Method
Place 1 to 2 teaspoons of peppermint and liquorice digestive blend tea per cup (and add 1 teaspoon for the pot) into the teapot. Pour boiling water into the pot and let it steep for 6-8 minutes. Pour into your cup and drink.
Milk not recommended for this tea.
Try brewing the mix for a second time. Some people like to add a little honey.
As a brewing tip, less time brewing will bring the peppermint to the front, more time will bring the liquorice to the front.
Iced Tea Brewing Method
Make as for hot, but add extra tea - when the tea has cooled a little pour over ice. It is important to make it a little stronger as the ice will water it down.
Alternatively, you can place the tea in a jug and add cold water. Leave to infuse for a few hours (or overnight in the fridge) strain and enjoy. Cold brewing will give a smoother taste.
